For eighteen years during the 1980s and 1990s, I facilitated a women’s Full Moon Circle at First Unitarian Society in Madison, Wisconsin. After several years of planned ceremonies, we began to create spontaneous rituals.
It was a heady time for me. Each month as we gathered, we would decide on a theme for our ritual. Then we would agree on a design for our spiritual work together, and I would compose an appropriate chant for us to sing (right on the spot!). We almost never included a divination in our plan.
Now that I realize the power of divination for tapping into your inner wisdom, I wish I could revisit those rituals. In my workshops, classes, and retreats, I’ve discovered that accessing your deeper knowing has helped people, especially women, to let go of their small self in order to awaken their wise guidance. Once they have tuned into their inner depths, they can speak their truth, unearth their bravery, and then take the steps they need to pursue their lives with greater purpose. The results have been amazing, even for someone, like me, with years of experience in empowerment work.
In retrospect, I wish I had incorporated oracles into our Full Moon rituals. I believe that using divination as their springboard, the women in the Full Moon Circle would have been able to dive much deeper into their inner selves and come back even stronger. What I’ve learned is that when you ask women to tap into their inner wisdom, they know what they want and need to create more vital lives for themselves and their communities.
But I wouldn’t have changed everything in those rituals. Chanting together is also a powerful means of connecting with women’s spirituality and with each other. This Full Moon in Pisces, I suggest a combination of the two, namely a chanting divination.
The Pisces moon is about transitions, especially endings. It’s a time to finally let go of the desire for control and accept our more limited place in the universe as a part of the interdependent web of all existence. It’s a time to deal with the stuck places in our lives or those parts of our lives where we’re in denial.
In honor of the Full Moon Circle, where we often used “toning” as a means of raising energy, I suggest that you use a Toning divination to call forth your intuition. This technique involves listening for the impulses of your creative inspiration and then expressing them with your voice. I will demonstrate this technique in a detailed walk-through on Monday, so tune in then to my YouTube channel.
